The Shape of Land To Come #001
The Shape of Land to Come explores the many ways in which human presence is inscribed into the environments we inhabit. The work moves between places that have been shaped, constructed, cultivated, maintained, abandoned, or transformed through human action, from vast territories to the smallest traces of intervention.
The photographs bring together fields, infrastructures, buildings, gardens, industrial sites, controlled environments, and ruins. Sometimes human intervention is barely perceptible; elsewhere, it is so complete that the environment exists almost entirely according to human intention. Ruins and remnants introduce another dimension, revealing how traces of past actions remain embedded within the spaces we inhabit.
Through a restrained photographic approach, the work observes these environments through their lines, patterns, structures, surfaces, and materials. Rather than separating the natural from the constructed, the photographs consider how deeply the two have become intertwined.
The project gathers fragments of an environment in continuous transformation, where what has been shaped, what is being maintained, and what may emerge next coexist. It is an invitation to look at our surroundings not as something fixed, but as something continually produced by human choices.
